Know Before You Go: CoolSculpting® Dos and Don’ts

As more and more people turn to CoolSculpting® as a non-invasive way to freeze away unwanted fat, there’s a lot of information, opinions, and confusion floating around out there. So, we thought it’d be helpful to share some things to keep in mind that can help you maximize your results and have a great CoolSculpting® experience.

Before Your Treatment

  • Do find out if you’re a good candidate. Before scheduling a treatment, a CoolSculpting® expert should evaluate you and talk to you about the results you hope to achieve, then create a CoolSculpting® treatment plan if they feel you are a good fit for the procedure.
  • Do ask questions during your consultation. You should feel comfortable with your choice to undergo CoolSculpting®. Your consultants will be highly-trained and able to answer any question you might have about your upcoming procedure. If you don’t know what questions to ask, it never hurts to just say, “what questions do people normally have?”
  • Don’t think of it as fast-acting weight loss. CoolSculpting® is more about sculpting the body, not weight loss, and we believe that being happy with how you look shouldn’t come down to a number on the scale. All in all, don’t be surprised if you only lose a couple of pounds, but several inches.
  • Don’t assume CoolSculpting® is too expensive. We have accept Care-Credit and in-house financing as well.

During Your Treatment

  • Do be prepared to be patient (but not too patient!). You’ll have to remain still during the procedure, but a typical CoolSculpting® session only lasts 30 to 45 minutes. You should be comfortable and relaxed enough to read, take a nap, or talk on the phone while they wait.
  • Don’t worry about pain during the procedure. You may feel a cold or tingling sensation at the beginning of your session, but this is very normal, and will go away as the area starts to become numb.
  • Don’t hesitate to ask questions that may come up during your procedure. Your comfort and happiness are important!

After Your Treatment

    • Do continue to eat healthy and exercise. CoolSculpting® is not meant as a replacement for healthy habits, and while the procedure targets fat in your treatment areas, it doesn’t prevent other fat cells from expanding. To maximize the results of CoolSculpting®, and to achieve your desired results in other parts of your body, we always recommend a healthy diet and regular exercise routine.
    • Don’t be concerned by some bruising after your treatment. CoolSculpting® is extremely safe, but some side effects are normal. You may experience tingling, itching, redness, or bruising, but these should go away after the first few days or weeks following your procedure.
    • Do expect to return to your usual routine quickly, often on the same day. While you may experience some redness or bruising, you will still be able to get back to school, work, or exercise quickly without much, if any, discomfort.
    • Do be patient if you don’t see immediate results after your procedure. It can take up to two to four months for your body to absorb the fat cells that were destroyed, so you shouldn’t expect to achieve your desired results right away.
    • Do consider additional treatments if you like your results but want to see even better ones. You’ll see the full results of your initial treatment after about 16 weeks. After that, you can perform a second procedure on your targeted area. In addition, sometimes patients discover new areas they wish to be treated or develop new areas of fat that exercise alone can’t eliminate.
    • Don’t expect harmful effects after the procedure. CoolSculpting® doesn’t harm any healthy tissues. While you may experience itching or see redness in the treated area, those side effects will diminish within a few weeks of your treatment.
