The Venus Legacy device uses radiofrequency (RF) technology that is safe for all skin types. Radiofrequency laser technology heats the skin at varying depths to stimulate collagen and elastin production.
Collagen and elastin are the essential proteins that make your skin more elastic and full. By stimulating collagen production, the RF energy visibly reduces the appearance of wrinkles and brings volume back to your skin.
The radiofrequency laser in the Venus Legacy device is combined with pulsed electromagnetic fields to create a heated matrix over the surface of the skin. During your consultation, a treatment provider will carefully examine your face, neck, chest, and hands to check for the kind of wrinkles that can be helped with Skin Tightening treatment.
Before Treatment
On the day of treatment, thoroughly wash your face and do not apply any make-up, lotions, sunscreen, or other cosmetics to the treatment area. If you have a history of cold sores, we recommend oral antiviral prophylaxis (with your doctor’s approval) on the night before and the day of treatment.
During Treatment
Exact treatment times may vary depending on the patient, but a single session typically takes no longer than 30 minutes. You will feel a slight warming of the skin and should have little to no discomfort during the treatment.
Patients describe the heat as that from a hot stone massage. Your skin may appear slightly red and swollen during and after the treatment – a typical reaction to the heat from the laser.
After Treatment
Patients may experience a burning sensation on the treatment for 1-2 hours immediately after the treatment, similar to that of a sunburn.
Skin Tightening with Venus Legacy requires little to no downtime. The treatment area may look a little flushed and warm to the touch, but this will go away within 1 to 2 hours. You can return to your daily schedule immediately after your treatment.
An ice pack can provide relief to the treated area. Make sure to enclose the ice pack in sterile and dry gauze to prevent water from penetrating the tissue in the treated area.
After the first day, gently wash and pat the skin gently dry for two days. Do not scrub the treated area, and moisturize daily. If a crust forms on the treatment area, it will naturally fall away within 5 to 7 days. Please, do not use cosmetics that contain active ingredients such as Retinol or AHA after treatment without prior permission from the doctor.
